WIP 2 - Sadiki's Damn feathers D8

Two hours of work just shading those wings and I'm still not done. Highlights, more shading, and he has a shrike's wins pattern. Bawww. This better look awesome when I'm done. I'm already picking it apart with my eyes.

WIP Sadiki & Thalion

Work in progress! It's coming along slowly. I want to try to finish it this weekend. I've not done any personal art for a while. Dusty and I need a good colored ref of Sadiki. >> Baddies need art too.

Lute's (almost) complete team

Just got his Togekiss to add and his 'for sure' team is done! I'm waiting to see the rest of the next gen before finalizing it.

August the Cubone

.. how can you not love cubone?

Rylis the melanistic ampharos

Rylis~ Lute's melanistic Ampharos. He was given to Lute by his elder brother, Tanbur and has been a constant companion since his childhood.

Fixed!

Something was seriously wrong with his face. I fixed it.

Baird the Chespin

...this is perhaps the moodiest Chespin ever.

Tamu the Fennekin

Not my best Poke'mon but hey, Tamu the Fennekin.

Team Battle~

Lute and Violet all set for a team battle.
... I didn't mean to make their poses so similar but I'm quietly loving it.

Poke'mon Trainer Lute Black

My Poke'mon trainer OC, Lute Black, grandson of Tommy Black ( oc with the wartortle from way back XD). His family comes from Lavender town and... his father was involved with the project to demolish the Poke'mon tower for the Radio Tower. Following that awesome decision, his father was killed in a strange accident. A few years later, Lute's older brother vanished while taking the trainer challenge, leaving Lute and his mother alone. Lute, now old enough to take the trainer challenge, is less than enthused about his upcoming journey. He believes that his father's actions unsettled the ghosts and that his family is cursed.

He's terrified of Ghost-type and dark-type poke'mon, exceedingly paranoid and superstitious.

Another WIP

I am really over-thinking this background. I'm not sure if I'm totally sold on the whole ...swirly vortex behind him. I'm likely going to make it more transparent and get the background behind it more fleshed out. I don't know.

WIP - Silence

Silence all done! I just have to put him into the bg I have planned for him. I've tried quite a few new things with this, I just hope it's starting to look decent. :3

WIP 2 - Silence's hair

Yeah I'm so not done with this. XD I'm not even done with his hair but I'm slowly gtting there. I really want to start getting more detail into my work. Silence has a single color and blond is pretty fun to work with. I know I"m going to hate doing long hair though >8

WIP - Young Silence

Inking done. I'll ink the bg later, I'm going to color him first. XD

WIP - Troy's Children

Doing a large image of some of Troy's kids. He's got 12 of them currently around him, two more are stuck with Arre. All of them are under the age of 6 so I'm trying to work with that. They're also fledgelings. Baby bird wings are hard. D8

Farewell Doodle

A rough pencil sketch of an rp scene. I'm trying to do more scenes/emotions/poses. This one's kind of boring but I'm working on it. >8 :fails:

“The horse that God built - Secretariat”

“Have you given the horse strength?
Have you clothed his neck with thunder?
Can you frighten him like a locust?
His majestic snorting strikes terror.
He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength;
He gallops into the clash of arms.
 He mocks at fear, and is not frightened;
Nor does he turn back from the sword.

The quiver rattles against him,
The glittering spear and javelin.
 He devours the distance with fierceness and rage;
Nor does he come to a halt because the trumpet has sounded.
At the blast of the trumpet he says, ‘Aha!’
He smells the battle from afar,
The thunder of captains and shouting.

Job 39:19-25
It’s not the best, but I’m really fighting with my shading style. But I did want to draw Secretariat. It’s kind of amazing if you think of all the little things that had to work just right for him to have become who he was and just how much faith his owner had to have. In the Disney movie they reflect everything back to the story of Job and the verse above.  It’s just an awesome story in all.

Sphynx Cub

A retarded attempt at a sphynx. It's not great, I'll openly admit, but I'm playing with designs.

Chimuian Harpey Concept

A harpey from Chimu! I'm playing around with their designs. Not sure I'm set on this one. They should look more bird than anything else though. Getting there.

Kennard the Kirin foal

I'm mostly happy with this one. And poor Kennard with his geeky name. Sorry, Ken.

Silver Chair doodle

An……..okay doodle I did between classes. The guy’s supposed to be Prince Rillian from CS Lewis’ The Silver Chair but he kind of looks like my oc Alastair. Apparently Al wants attention.

Well most of the image ties into things that came from the book, if you’ve read it, you’ll recognize everything. Cept Rillian. Sorry, Ril.

Doodles from yesterday

Kirkis again! ... the last one really sucked and this one isn't much better, but I wanted to give him another stab. I might improve on it later, might not. I need to do more Suikoden art.

Tabor, a new TLK based OC. Cheetas really need more love in the fanbase. >8

Puddleglum the Marshwiggle

Finally finished this one! I’m mostly happy with how it came out, even the background isn’t pissing me off as much as my backgrounds normally do. This month I picked up The Silver Chair, skipping over a few of the others because it’s always been my favorite of the Chronicles of Narnia.  And so I doodled Puddleglum here before class one day and while I hated the sketch, I felt I needed to finish it. I’ve not done Narnia art in so long that it really felt good to do so.
I’ve taken some artistic liberty with him obviously. His nose is supposed to be longer and more pointed but… I suck with those right now. I also added some scales to his body to make him look more froglike. I imagine after his adventure, Puddleglum goes back to his home, eating eel soup and all that just as he did before, but he’s not really bothered by being called an over-enthusiastic marshwiggle.
…which if you read the book is kind of a hilarious statement. He’s a pessimist but apparently a very optimistic one. I’m likely going to do some more Narnia art, at least for Easter coming up.
“One word, Ma’am,” he said, coming back from the fire; limping, because of the pain. “One word. All you’ve been saying is quite right, I shouldn’t wonder. I’m a chap who always liked to know the worst and then put the best face I can on it. So I won’t deny any of what you said. But there’s one more thing to be said, even so. Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things-trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and Aslan himself. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in that case, the made-up things seem a good deal more important than the real ones. Suppose this black pit of a kingdom of yours is the only world. Well, it strikes me as a pretty poor one. And that’s a funny thing, when you come to think of it. We’re just babies making up a game, if you’re right. But four babies playing a game can make a play-world which licks your real world hollow. That’s why I’m going to stand by the play world. I’m on Aslan’s side even if there isn’t any Aslan to lead it. I’m going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn’t any Narnia. So, thanking you kindly for our supper, if these two gentlemen and the young lady are ready, we’re leaving your court at once and setting out in the dark to spend our lives looking for Overland. Not that our lives will be very long, I should think; but that’s a small loss if the world’s as dull a place as you say.”
C.S. Lewis, The Silver Chair

Kirkis Doodle

This isn't my best, I admit. It looks pretty horrible but I may fix it up in photoshop and color it....
.....

Kirkis I'm so sorry.

Glorfendel the Golden

I really need to clean this up, but hey I drew it while waiting for class to start. Poor Glorf needs more love. >:

Well...

Okay so I didn't do any art today. I needed to study for a biology exam that I'm sure I still didn't do too hot on. Tomorrow I have to do a post lab and a chapter of math homework. I'm also pretty sure that I work on Wednesday and Thursday so I can't run a long night. Thursday night I'm likely going to Nicky and Tabby's house to hang out with them but we'll see what happens on Saturday and Sunday. I want to finish up Puddleglum and scan in a doodle of Glorfendel that I did today. I'm trying to do more fan art of things that mean something to me since I'm playing with semi-established designs. It'll help me loosen up a bit so I can do justice to my own characters and those of my friends.

I definitely want to do more Narnia stuff for Easter.

WIP 2 - Puddleglum

More progress on this! I got most of it done, I just have to get the shading and highlights out of the way. It took most of the night to do the background. I’m still not entirely happy with it, but it looks better than most of the doodles I’ve done. Marshlands aren’t very flattering anyway. >>;

Anyway, I’m working on a description from The Silver Chair that’s… only a few paragraphs long. Puddleglum isn’t a flattering individual either and yes, it says his nose is pointed but that’s a feature I’m not great at drawing from the front. He’s got a muddy complexion and green hair. I think I got that okay.

WIP - Puddleglum

Just a work in progress. I've got the lines down mostly on Puddleglum. I'm going to try to ink a full background as well and see if I like the result of that better than attempting to paint one. I might like it, I might not but I do like how I've improved this sketch. I tweeked it a lot from the rough doodle so I'm happier with the result.

Puddleglum only has a few illustrations in the book and the way I saw him was a little more.. amphibian. Long limbs, long neck, long face, and for whatever reason, long sad ears. I don't know, it just kind of makes him look more pitiful. Which makes his brave moment all the more awesome in my opinion.

Zidane Tribal Fanart

I don't ever do fan art but I think I might need to start doing it. Mostly because it forces me to get outside of my comfort zone and try well-known characters. They'll face more criticism because they mean something to people outside of myself and those in my circle of friends. So I started with Zidane here because he's among my favorite characters in video game history. He's so unique in the FF universe.

Anyway, I decided to just use the pencil lines since I loved them so much. I didn't want to screw them up inking them.

Sorry about the watermark.

WIP - Zidane Tribal

Obviously I'm not done yet but I'm trying something new. Adding color and all the shading and such to pencils. We'll see how it goes.

Lute Black of the Noble City

Lavender Town. The noble city.

And hometown to my Poke'mon Trainer OC, Lute Black. He's descended from my 'civil war' character, Thomas Black and seems to have the worst luck in the universe. Inspired mostly from a late night watching Poke'mon Creepypasta, Black is kind of terrified of ghosts, ghost stories, and places where ghosts typically hang out. Unfortunate for him, since his home town is also home to the Poke'mon Tower.

Well damn.

I knew that the moment I made plans for the weekend that something would come up. The new guy needs Saturday for a doctor appointment, the boss' daughter isn't going to do it because there is a party order, and the other baker apparently needs another week of rest. I'm so angry right now. I just want a break. Mary will be here this weekend with dog, I can't sleep in save for Sunday, and I just feel like I've been here forever. Well at least there is Sunday.

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

I get a weekend!

Oh man I can't even express how excited I am. I'm training a new baker who, like myself, is very Christian, very conservative, and actually wanted to talk about creationism while we worked. Time just flies by training this guy and he's actually very good so far. Scot told me that I'll be able to get this weekend off starting on Friday if the guy's up to speed. I'll be heading up to Newburg after class on Friday to stay with Nicky and Tabby and get away from any possible drama that'll come when Mary decides to swing by with the dog. It'll let me just sit and unwind. I just have to get mom to make sure that the dog doesn't do anything to our pets and to make sure Kip gets fed.

Anyway, small update.

Also I think that sore throat and sinus nonsense is coming back. Dad's sick and my throat's been sticky and sore for a few hours now. I do NOT want to go to the doctor.

Puddleglum

Fanart of one of my favorite characters from the Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair. Poor Puddleglum needs more love. Sadly, my art doesn't do him justice. >8

“One word, Ma'am," he said, coming back from the fire; limping, because of the pain. "One word. All you've been saying is quite right, I shouldn't wonder. Ashhelm - Fixed

It's not perfect, but I fixed his eyes a bit and I'm more happy with this one.

Val gift for Exarrdian

A gift for Exarrdian on DA. She went out of her way to make sure that I had a birthday gift for Dusty on time so I thought this was a fun way to say thank you! It's not my best work but  hey. More art today!

Zidane Tribal - Pencil Fanart

Not sure why, but I decided I needed to draw Zidane today. He's one of my favorite game characters. Definitely my favorite Final Fantasy character. Gotta love the perverted little monkey.

Lir the drafted Roc Rider

I'm gonna do a self write up to explain how this happened but poor Lir, a wannabe bard got roped into the Lancaster military. Woops.

Happy National Singles Awareness Dat

Okay so I get grumpy because I can't partake in feeling special, loved, and eating chocolate while a man gives me a back rub.

But still.

I know there's fish in the sea. But I'm not in the sea. I'm in the desert. And I'm alone.

Ashhelm Bust Sketch

Way back in the day, I used to put a lot of time and effort into my drawings. It didn't matter if it was a small page or not, I would spend time on my work. The commissions I took for two years kind of murdered that, I wanted to get them done and whenever I did art for myself I felt too guilty. So I rushed it. I got a lot of tension into my work following all the drama so I'm trying to loosen up.

I went to the school store today. I had filled up my travel sketchbook and I needed a new one. I keep a small 9"x6" sketchbook from Bee Paper in my bag so I can draw on the fly. My other one's three times that size and doesn't travel well. I like to have it in between classes or while I'm waiting for food when I go out to eat.

I figured that since I'm kind of starting a new sketchbook, a new year, and a new outlook to my art- I'd start putting work into my art again. I'm still not happy with it, there's a few things wrong but if I sit and nit pick I won't get any more art done. So here's the first actual...decent doodle. I decided to pick on Ashhelm since he's a somber guy with a lot of baggage. I could project on him. XD

What my creative process kind of looks like...

I keep a moleskin journal with me a lot. I end up scribbling down ideas for plots, ideas for backlog, races, filling holes in the plot and characters, and sometimes random devotional things. It's all kinds of random but it works...ish.

Not Dead Sketches

Yup, I'm still doing these even if I'm hiding over here on Blogger. Most of these really, really suck and I'm sorry about that. It's been a very long week.
